Area Districts Partner with AC for Tuition-Free College Access

Canyon ISD and Bushland ISD are strengthening their long-standing partnerships with Amarillo College through Badger Bound—an initiative that provides students who complete 15 hours of dual credit with up to 45 additional hours of tuition-free college credit after high school. The program, which launches with the Class of 2026, is already creating excitement among students, families, and educators who see it as a game-changing opportunity.

AC to Host National Researcher Focused on Dual Credit Success

Amarillo College will host Dr. Davis Jenkins, a nationally recognized scholar from Columbia University’s Teachers College, on Thursday, Nov. 13 as part of Region 16’s Education Service Center’s Superintendent Leadership Series. The session will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at AC’s West Campus in the Health Science Simulation Center. 

Nursing Faculty Member Receives AC’s Mead Faculty Excellence Award 

Teresa Herrera who served as AC’s assistant director of associate nursing, was awarded the prestigious 2024-2025 John F. Mead Faculty Excellence Award.She received AC’s foremost faculty accolade during commencement exercises May 9 at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium. “I was shock and thrilled,” Herrera said. “There is a lot of hard work in making a difference, so this was really a special reward coming from students and colleagues.” 

Business Director Receives AC’s prestigious Mead Faculty Award 

Rashmi Pillai, AC’s program coordinator for business technology, was awarded the prestigious 2024-2025 John F. Mead Faculty Excellence Award. She received AC’s foremost faculty accolade during commencement exercises May 9 at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium. “I was so shocked and almost tripped walking to the stage,” Pillai said. “You don’t do this work for awards, but it was such a nice sentiment from students and colleagues. Thank you to all who nominated me.”
